Cherry Blossoms in Washington

The virtual space "Cherry Blossoms in Washington" is my contribution to a collaborative project with Paul Lakos for a commission by the Digital Series Festival "die Seriale". The task for this project was to design and create a space for a virtual networking event as the in-person event had to be canceled due to Covid-19 regulations. This event aimed to bring together staff of two festivals, namely the "die Seriale" and the "DC Web Fest", which is why we decided to create two representative social spaces that visitors could freely switch between. These spaces represent locations related to the organizations, thereby being designed after the club "who killed the pig" in Gießen, Germany and the Tidal Basin in Washington DC respectively.
The setting for Washington has been chosen specifically because the web festival usually happens around the same time as the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
Furthermore, both environments are fit out with posters of both festivals to symbolize their collaboration and are designed to comfortably hold up to 50 visitors at a time.
